Eagle Eye

Eagle Eye is one of my favorite video because I cannot predict what will be the next scene of the movie. In the movie everything is high tech, everything is being documented on surveillance cameras, capturing the cell phone, Internet, and AT M activity, and tracking the humans whereabouts with satellite guidance systems. It’s so crazy to think that a computer is manipulating anything. The movie tells about the dangers of surveillance and the disadvantages it would cause to the people. In the end the movie tells us that human are more powerful that computers we are the creator of machines and we must not let them over ruled our lives.

Silicon Valley

The movie is all about the growth of the PC (personal computer) industry, and it is based on historical fact. The story begins with IBM in the early 1980's. The movie illustrates the detailed history of Apple, from a manufacturer of the first color PCs to one of the biggest personal computer companies to the giant taken down by the people that helped build it up. It also shows how Apple grabbed the idea of the GUI from Xerox, how Microsoft got the first DOS from someone else, and how Microsoft started making its own interfaces. The movie illustrates the making of the technology we are using today. It also featured there the hardships they encounter. It made me realized how lucky we are to have such technologies. I find the movie a bit boring in some scenes, but it’s nice to have movies like this that let the viewers know what really happened in that time.

Surrogates

In this movie the robots are just controlled using minds and the person who controlled it are just sitting at home. They use the robot to go to work, date, party, etc. Over time most people become fully dependent on them and it becomes the societal norm that everyone they see is a surrogate. They act as a buffer for physical things that could hurt a person. But won't hurt the operator because they are not physically there to get hurt. As a result crime and especially murder doesn't happen any more, because the operator can't get hurt. The movie warns us against letting technology get too far ahead of us and also tells that mankind relying too heavily on machines. It also carries a warning against mankind being too reliable on technology as a means of communicating and us losing the personal touch and not truly or physically living.

Wall-e

WALL-E is a (Waste Allocator Load Lifter - Earth Class). In the movie wall e was the last of his kind, a robot created by the Buy-N-Large Corporation to clean up the piles of trash left on Earth by the conspicuous consumption of human beings. The video wall e made me realized the disadvantages of super enhance technology. I don’t want to imagine that humans in the future are very fat and don’t know how to walk because they are very dependent to machines. The movie tells us that we must clean our earth and save it because human consumption, in the future will trash the earth and after earth humans will be trashing Outer Space as well. My favorite part in the movie was when wall e is trying to save the seedling and the computer of the spaceship never let the humans return to Earth, even when it is found to be habitable once again.

iRobot

I robot is all about a detective who distrusts robots he is out to prove that robots are harmful to humans. The robots in the movie are given 3 laws, which govern their existence. The first law was “a robot may not injure a human being or, through in action, allow a human being to come to harm”. The second was “a robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the first law”. And the third was “a robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the first or second law”. In the movie it looks like robots there are more human than mechanic. As I observe it looks like they also have fillings, they follow rules that enable them to have a manner of behavior that is instinctive. In the movie the robots are given law as if they are capable of conscience choice and will to do what they think is right. At first it is illustrated in the movie that they have proper conduct but do robots have a conscience? Do they have instincts and will? If they have, then they are the equivalent of human beings. If that would be the future of robotics then I don’t want to live in that time.

Why do we need to study Technology

We need to study technology because we need to gain a deeper understanding of our world. We need to know how we need it in our daily lives and how important it is. We need to study technology to know where the inventions, machines and technology today are based. It is a need to study technology to know what would our life be in the future.

Technology is important because it is part of our life. It makes our work faster, can make our lives easier. But it can also harm our lives. We study technology to know what positive and negative effects it can give to us.

Without technology there is no progress. That's why we must know what is technology and we must study technology to know what more can it offer to us, how long would it go, and how can we manage the things it can give to us. :)
